MWC 2013 – ZTE Grand Memo and Grand Mozilla may debut
MWC 2013 event has been scheduled in Barcelona from February 25 – 28, 2013. And as is the case all the major vendors will have something to offer. Lets start with ZTE, according to latest reports, ZTE will unveil not one but two large screen smartphones at the upcoming MWC 2013 event. One a 5.7 inch Android smartphone in the form of ZTE Grand Memo and other a surprise packet the Grand Mozilla, a Firefox OS powered smartphone.
The ZTE Grand Memo won’t be a complete new debut as the company showcased the gigantic smartphone at an event in Hong Kong yesterday. The ZTE Grand Memo will run Android 4.1.2 and feature a 5.7-inch 720p display, 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 13-megapixel rear camera. The Grand Memo will join the ZTE Grand S which was launched at CES, as the Chinese manufacturer looks to move into high and mid-range segment.
But what will be a surprise packet from the Chinese manufacturer will be the ZTE Grand Mozilla, a Mozilla Firefox OS smartphone. Why we are intrigued is for the fact that this will be the first time we will get the hands on view on the new upcoming open source OS. And ZTE Grand Mozilla making a debut at MWC 2013 will make it the first Firefox OS smartphone that would be commercially available.
Earlier in the month, Mozilla had announced two developer phones running on Firefox OS with Telefonica, but there were no details about any smartphone from any vendor. So at MWC 2013, we will keep our eyes and ears open to see if the ZTE Grand Mozilla actually launches.
