Top Tablets in India for 2012

Top Tablets in India for 2012
Tablets have become everyday necessity, especially for those who want large amount of personal data on the move. We even told you about how tablets are becoming the sole devices for the next generations. In India, the market is more diverse thanks to a large number of budget friendly tablets available which in turn cater to a large audience. Thus NTB has decided to showcase the top tablets available for the Indian markets –
5. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 P3100

Number 5 Tablet – Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 P3100
Currently one of the most selling products, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 P3100 starts our list at number 5 of top tablets in India. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 settles easily between the budget tablets and the costlier iPads, there is iPad Mini now but the Galaxy Tab 2 has a telephony functionality due to which it becomes more affordable to iPad Mini.
Even when you compare it on the basis of performance and value for money, the Android tablet beats the likes of Sony Xperia S, Motorolas and HTCs. Though there are things that affect the Galaxy Tab 2 and they are visibility problem (viewing angles are not that great), the tablet tends to suffer from lag (though it was less as compared to Galaxy Note N800) and the tablet seems too large to be used as everyday mobile.
4. Samsung Galaxy Note N800

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
Samsung has come a long way from those early days, this can be mainly attributed the Samsung – Google partnership and the company’s choice of Android as OS. The company has already tasted success with the Galaxy Note series. So where do they take the idea of “phablet” further, well, they give you the Samsung Galaxy Note N800. Globally known as the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, the 10.1 inch display of the tablet shines and proves why the Korean giant is currently on top of the league.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has all going for it a very nice screen, beautiful battery life and a “HULK” kind of power to run the Android OS with Samsung’s custom TouchWiz UI. The tablet is a fantastic build overall and even the pricing is somewhat affordable if you compare to its peers. But again the problem with the tablet is the lag it suffers (this time we are not sure is it because of Android version or the Samsung TouchWiz UI). Another aspect which goes against the tablet is the plasticky build which seems to be the tendency with all Samsung Galaxy products.
3. Apple iPad – 4th Generation

Apple iPad – Fourth Generation
No top tablets list will be completed with the original king of tablets – the Apple iPad. Now in its fourth generation (a quick generation update as compared to its predecessors), the fourth generation Apple iPad is a complete tablet experience. With the time proven and an ideal 9.7 inch screen sporting a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and the gorgeous Retina Display, the tablet beats even some of the laptops in display.
Apple wasn’t done there the company has now powered the new iPad with the more powerful A6X chipset and graphics power under its hood. However the tablet features third in our lost due to the following factors – price (we still feel it’s a bit on the higher side as compared to the other tablets in the market), heavy (if you have to hold it for long periods) and the new Lightning connector (it annoys me as all my older accessories are rendered useless).
2. Google Nexus 7

Google Nexus 7
Second on our list the Google Nexus 7 is a device you will fall in love it. Released in November for the Indian markets, the tablet is available at all Croma Stores in India. The Nexus 7 proves the Google policy of providing a reliable hardware at an affordable cost (well actually not in India, in India it is nearly the same price as Apple iPad Mini).
Google Nexus 7 features a comfortable design, very nice screen, great battery life and above all the new Android version 4.2. So now many will ask if the tablet features all that one wants then why the second rank. Well the Achilles heel in the Google Nexus 7 is the Android Jelly Bean OS itself; there have been many a complaints with the lag, hang issues and apps related error for the Android version which in turn affects the overall system performance of the tablet.
1. Apple iPad Mini

Apple iPad Mini
A late entrant to the scene, but Apple’s iPad Mini easily takes the top spot in our countdown. The tablet impressed us so much overall that it has even featured as the Showcase Gadget of the Week on our network. The 7.9 inch LED Backlit Multi-touch Display with IPS Technology screen which sports a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. Powered by the Dual Core 1GHz A5 Chip and 512 MB RAM, the Apple iPad mini runs on the latest Apple iOS 6. A sturdy built with a well designed product overall, the iPad Mini even scores over its elder siblings.
Though a bit on the pricier side of tablets (which Apple products aren’t), the iPad Mini is still worth every penny you spend on it.
Special Mention – Aakash 2 Tablet

Aakash 2 Tablet
No list of tablets in India will be complete without this one – the Aakash 2 tablet. India’s ambitious ultra low-cost Aakash 2 tablet PC deserves a special mention in our list of top tablets in India. Though under powered as compared to the top tablets, but can you find me one tablet that offers so much at so less. The tablet has been even showcased at the United Nations and brings the idea of computing and internet access to empower the people in India that are left out of the digital age.
